How to Identify a Song from a Facebook Video Link

Use the video’s audio to look for a song match, without typing a title or lyrics. Start with the link to the Facebook video or Reel containing the music.

1. Copy the Link to the Video

Open the video or Reel you want to check and copy its link. Make sure it points to that specific video, not the creator’s profile or Page homepage.

  • Facebook app: tap Share under the video or Reel, then tap Copy link.
  • Desktop: click the video's timestamp or open it on its own page, then copy the address bar. Or click Share and choose Copy link.
  • If you can only copy a link to the whole post, open the video first and copy the link from there.

2. Search the Video’s Audio

Paste the link into the tool above and select Find Song. The tool analyzes the audio to look for a matching recording.

3. Confirm You Have the Right Song

When a match appears, check the title and artist. Use an available listening link to compare the recording with the music you heard.

Using a saved clip: Upload your video or audio file instead of pasting a link.

When the Reel only says "Original audio"

On many Reels, Facebook shows the song name at the bottom of the screen. Tap it to see the track and other Reels that use it. Check there first.

But you'll often see "Original audio" with the creator's name instead, especially when the music was added in another app, the clip was reposted from TikTok or Instagram, or the video is a regular Facebook video rather than a Reel. Regular videos usually have no music label at all.

In those cases, paste the link here. The finder works from the audio, not from the label.

Tricky Facebook videos and what to try

  • Private, friends-only and group videos

The finder can only read videos that anyone can watch without signing in. Videos shared with friends only, or posted in a private group, will probably return a "could not be read" message. If you have a legitimate copy saved, upload it instead.

  • Live videos and long replays

A link search may miss music that starts later in a long replay. If the song plays later, save a clip of that part and upload it.

  • Stories

Stories usually disappear after 24 hours, and their links may stop working. Save or screen-record the Story while it's available, then upload the clip.

  • Shared posts

If a friend shared someone else's video, open the original video and copy its link.

Facebook Song Finder FAQs

How can I identify a song from a Facebook Reel manually?

Check the Reel’s caption and comments for a song title or artist. Listen to any suggested recording and compare it with the clip. If the music is already clearly credited, you may not need a separate song search.

What if the Facebook video link cannot be read?

Open the link to check that it leads to the intended video, rather than a profile or Page homepage. If the link still cannot be read, try uploading a saved video or audio file containing the music.

Why can a video be read without a song being identified?

Accessing the video and finding a matching recording are separate steps. A readable video does not guarantee a song match. Check that your input contains the music you intended to identify, or try another clip of the same recording.

What if the Facebook video contains several songs?

A single match should not be treated as a complete soundtrack list. Compare the result with the section you wanted to identify. If it is a different song, upload a clip of the relevant section and try again.

Is Facebook Song Finder free?

You can identify one song for free. Additional searches are available to purchase as needed.

Can I find a song from a video in a private group?

Not from the link. Videos in private groups can't be read without signing in. Upload a saved copy instead.

The song starts late in a long video. What should I do?

A link search may miss music that starts later in a long video. Save a clip of the part with the song and upload it.
